Hello. We are Shirley & Neil and have recently renovated Roineabhal Cottage to a very comfortable standard .

Shirley's family were born Harris just a short drive over the other side of the Scalpay bridge to the family crofthouse. We bought this house on Scalpay for the tranquil setting and wonderful views to Skye and the Uists which are clearly visible.The sunset at the top of the page was taken from our front door! To the right of the cottage you can see "An Cliesham" the higest mountain (corbet) in Harris well worth a climb for serious hill walkers. From virtually the front door there is a fantastic walk which is marked with posts to Eilean Glas Lighthouse. This magnificent Lighthouse was completed in 1824 by the Stevenson Family.

There is so much to do in Harris with walkers and fishermen spoilt for choice. There are numerous sea trips to St Kilda, Shaint Islands and smaller trips to see dolphins and seals. Watch out for Otters playing in the bays. There is a good bus service from outend to Tarbert and Taxi hire. You can hire bikes and we have a storage outhouse if you bring your own bikes.
